Billy Connolly Makes Touching Speech About Wife Pamela
They've always been honest about the ups and downs of their relationship, but Billy Connolly and Pamela Stephenson looked as in love as ever at last night's GQ Awards in London.
And, after being awarded with the Inspiration of the Year gong, the 73-year-old comedian sweetly dedicated it to his wife of 27 years.
"Without my lovely wife and daughters, nothing means anything," he said. "It's very moving. It's evenings like this that makes me think all those lonely years weren't wasted."
The touching moment reiterates a telling interview Billy gave last year, when he gushed about how Pamela had stepped up to help with his care after his 2013 diagnosis with Parkinson's disease.
"She's very supportive," he said at the time.
And while Pamela admitted that the Scot's diagnosis had come as "a shock", she has kept fans updated as he continues treatment, praising his determination.
"Billy is actually doing really well," she wrote in a recent article. "He continues the voice exercises that help to maintain his vocal texture, but that would be necessary even if he didn't have Parkinson's.
"He trains hard in the gym. He continues to tour, to do movies and TV series, and is frankly as funny as he's ever been."
