Charlize Theron paid $3m for appearing at Melbourne’s Grand Prix
Unlike most Grand Prix goers who forked out the big bucks to attend, Charlize Theron got a BIG paycheck for attending.
Legal documents have confirmed that Charlize Theron raked in $3 million dollars for her appearance at the Grand Prix earlier this year from Developer Larry Kestelman.
The Oscar winning actress earned the staggering amount for her one and a half hour appearance where she was to "attend as celebrity guest; participate in VIP meet and greet, sign autographs, walk red carpet, photo call, and repeat and any other mutually agreed upon activities agreed to by Talent in writing in advance".
The reason? To promote Kestelman's luxury 450-apartment project with the tagline "Lead me into Temptation" ... despite the approvals for the property yet to come through.
Kestelman - the founder of Dodo internet - has rights to use Theron's image, voice, name and signature as part of advertising the property and in marketing collateral.
The details emerged during a legal battle between Kestelman and his lawyers in the supreme court.
Theron is also expected to make a number of appearances in China next month to promote the same apartment block.
The apartments are set to be built at the enviable location of the corner of Chapel Street and Toorak Road in Melbourne.
And while Charlize was the first choice, it seems a number of other celebs were close to being given the big pay cheque.
Kate Hudson, Gisele and Karlie Kloss were all under consideration.
