‘Dirty John’ Is The Real Crime Podcast You NEED To Hear
If you love watching and reading real murder mysteries, no doubt you’d love listening to them, too.
So when I heard about ‘Dirty John’, a 6-part podcast that follows the story of a man named ‘Dirty John’, I was instantly hooked.
With ‘Making A Murderer’ and ‘The Keepers’ under my belt, I was looking for the next dark, real life mystery to quench my thirst, and Dirty John delivered.
Separated into ‘days’, each part represents a new twist in the story - and gets darker and more addictive as it goes on. Here’s a brief outline of the story, without spoilers.
"Dirty John" is a story of love, deceit, denial and, ultimately, survival. The six-part series is reported and written by Christopher Goffard, who contributed to the coverage of corruption in the city of Bell that brought The Times the 2011 Pulitzer Prize, has twice been a Pulitzer finalist for feature writing, and captivated millions of readers last September with "Framed," a six-part series about striving, revenge and ruin in the master-planned city of Irvine.
Debra Newell is a successful interior designer. She meets John Meehan, a handsome man who seems to check all the boxes: attentive, available, just back from a year in Iraq with Doctors Without Borders. But her family doesn’t like John, and they get entangled in an increasingly complex web of love, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival.
