Justin Timberlake Forced To Apologise After Tweet

Justin Timberlake is currently facing huge backlash on his social media.

The 'Can't Stop The Feeling' singer was moved by actor Jesse Williams' Humanitarian Award acceptance speech at the 2016 BET awards yesterday, that he took to Twitter to share his thoughts with Twitter saying '@iJesseWilliams tho.. #Inspired #BET2016''.

During his speech, Williams spoke about the state of black culture in the entertainment industry saying ''This invention called whiteness uses and abuses us,” Williams said. “Burying black people out of sight and out of mind while extracting our culture, our dollars, our entertainment like oil — black gold, ghettoising and demeaning our creations, then stealing them, gentrifying our genius and then trying us on like costumes before discarding our bodies like rinds of strange fruit.”

When Timberlake posted his tweet after the speech, users immediately started tweeting back, with one saying ''Inspired you to do what? Continue to emulate black culture through your music while ignoring issues affecting black people,''

Another replied ''So does this mean you’re going to stop appropriating our music and culture? And apologise to Janet too. #BETAwards.''

This tweet referred to Timberlake exposing Janet Jacksons breast at the 2004 Super Bowl Half Time Show and caused him to tweet back saying ''Oh, you sweet soul. The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation. Bye.''

Most saw Timberlake's first response as quite rude, so the comments kept coming before he began to apologize for initially tweeting, saying ''I feel misunderstood. I responded to a specific tweet that wasn’t meant to be a general response. I shouldn’t have responded anyway.'

He then followed up by saying ''I forget this forum sometimes … I was truly inspired by @iJesseWilliams speech because I really do feel that we are all one … A human race.''

There has been no comment from Jesse Williams on Timberlake's tweets.
