Margot Robbie To Produce Australian Shakespeare Reworking
Margot Robbie's production company has just signed on with several other Australian production companies to produce a 10-part series that re-tells Shakespeare's texts from female perspectives.
Robbie's production company LuckyChap Entertainment, which produced I, Tonya will work with Hoodlum, ABC (Australia) and ABC (US), and feature a female-headed creative team to update the Bard's work to comment on modern society and issues.
A spokesperson from LuckyChap says “We are thrilled about this Australian partnership as an opportunity to showcase unique, distinctly female voices in writing, and to demonstrate the high quality of the Australian film and television industry. The project will share diverse points of view, from writers representing the different cultures and areas within Australia, which many would not readily associate with works of Shakespeare.”
Even though Margot will be one of the Executive Producers for the series, there is no word yet on whether or not she will appear in the series.
Production will start later this year.
