Oscar-Winning Actor To Play Hugh Hefner In Upcoming Biopic
It appears that the famous silk pajamas and velvet dressing gown are being passed on to non other than Jared Leto as it has been announced that the Oscar winner will be playing Hugh Hefner in an upcoming movie based on his life.
This announcement comes just a week after it was announced that the founder of Playboy had passed away at the Playboy Mansion aged 91.
45-year-old Leto, known for his take on The Joker in Suicide Squad, will play Hugh Hefner in the biopic directed by Brett Ratner.
"Jared is an old friend," Ratner told the Hollywood Reporter.
"When he heard I got the rights to Hef's story, he told me, 'I want to play him. I want to understand him.' And I really believe Jared can do it. He's one of the great actors of today."
The film is not a new aspiration for Ratner, who has been set on directing the movie since 2007, however, he originally had Robert Downey Jr in mind to play Hef.
Leto has visited the Playboy Mansion before for the premiere of Amazon's docuseries American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story, in celebration of Hefner turning 91.
Unfortunately the actor didn't get to met the Playboy icon as he was not feeling well.
However, Ratner has no doubt that Leto will still be able to capture Hugh on screen saying,
"There's enough footage of Hef out there that Jared will be able to get as much information as he wants."
We certainly can't wait to see this one!
