Inappropriate Moment You May Have Missed From The Block
Sunday nights are the reveal night on 'The Block' and this week we saw the blockheads complete their renovations with the unveiling of their front yards.
The episode ran like any other with all of the contestants meeting to listen to feedback from the judges and agonisingly wait for Scotty Cam to reveal the scores.
And so while everyone at home was sitting on the edge of their seats waiting to see who had won the final reveal, it's understandable if you missed the shockingly inappropriate thing that Scotty did.
After writing up the scores on the chalkboard, the host of the show look up at the couples and said, "Some high scores and some low scores. And that Shaynna's a b*tch, isn't she?".
Yep, Scotty Cam called Shaynna Blaze, one of prestigious judges on the show, a bitch during the 7:30pm program for giving out low scores and some people that noticed the awkward moment were left FUMING!
Yep a male host on a prime time popular show called a female judge a bitch. Would he say that to male judges? Absolute dinosaur. #9theblock— Dale Roberts (@ozdale) October 22, 2017
Um, I don't think you can say that on tv Scotty. If Neale gives low scores will you call him a bitch too? #9TheBlock— Lisa Potts (@leaseM_87) October 22, 2017
After some serious backlash, Scotty Cam appeared on various radio stations to apologise for his inappropriate comment.
"Look, obviously I said that in complete jest, and I've said it to get a rise out of the contestants," he said.
"It was poor judgement on my part and I've rung Shaynna and apologised. WE're fantastic friends and we've worked together for a lot of years. She's incredible - she's a great designer, she's a great person, she's a great judge. She's certainly not 'that'.
"I did it in total jet, and it was just poor judgement. I've apologised - it was disrespectful, there was no doubt about that. Sometimes I'm an idiot."
Cam also said that he had contacted Shaynna since the episode aired to apologise personally to her but that she hadn't taken offence to the comment.
The Block's 13th season will come to an end during the auctions this sunday on Channel Nine.
