Why Natalie Portman Won't Be Attending The Oscars
Oscar-winner Natalie Portman has admitted that she'll be sitting out this year's Academy Awards, despite being nominated for her critically-lauded turn in Jackie.
And her reasoning is totally, utterly understandable; the mum-to-be is just too pregnant.
"Due to my pregnancy, I am unable to attend the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards," the 35-year-old told Variety. "I feel so lucky to be honoured among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends."
We're not sure whether that means the actor is afraid the baby may choose to make an appearance during the ceremony or if she simply can't bring herself to get up off the sofa; we're assumer the latter.
Portman, who is already mum to five-year-old Aleph, stole the show in an incredible, voluminous gown at January's Screen Actors Guild Awards, but admitted that she was enjoying picking outfits that were altogether stretchier.
"I think you can get away with things that are more comfortable," she said at the time. "You have a good excuse to want to be comfortable."
While Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied, who she met on the set of Black Swan in 2010, have chosen not to find out the sex of the baby, it sounds like it won't be too much longer until they finally get to meet him or her!
