Trailer About Making A Murderer Part 2 Has Dropped
We’re just over a week out from the release of the second instalment of the show that made us all obsessed with the genre of true crime, Making a Murderer. And to get us all hooked Netflix has today released the first trailer for part two of the series.
By the looks of things, we’re going to see things heat up even more for our accused Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey in Making A Murderer Part 2 as their team of lawyers make an attempt to overturn Avery’s conviction.
The Trailer For Making A Murderer Part 2 Has Dropped And It Looks Intense
The original series of this infamous docuseries chronicled the journey of Steven and Brendan as they were convicted of the murder of 25-year-old photographer Teresa Halbach back in 2005.
This second instalment will focus on finding evidence to support Steven Avery’s claims that he is innocent in the case of Teresa Halbach’s murder and will provide an in-depth look at the high-stakes post-conviction process, exploring the emotional toll the process takes on all involved.
We will also see the introduction of a new lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, a prominent post-conviction attorney who has offered up her expertise in Steven’s case.
“If this case is solid, if he’s guilty, I’ll fail,” says Zellner in the trailer.
Brendan Dassey’s post-conviction lawyers, Laura Nerdier and Steven Drizin from Northwestern University’s Centre on Wrongful Convictions of Youth, will also be seen fighting for his freedom in this season.
Brendan’s murder conviction was originally appealed in 2016 after it was believed that his confession was coerced by police, however, in 2017 this conviction was upheld by a federal appeals court.
The filmmakers behind Making A Murderer Part 2, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, said in a statement, “Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice.”
This second instalment comes three years after Part 1 was released in 2015. Ricciardi and Demos also said that the new season will continue from where Part 1 left off.
“Building on Part 1, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part 2, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit. We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers.”
Making a Murderer Part 2 will feature 10 episodes and will premiere on Netflix on October 19. Watch the trailer in the video above!
