'Young And The Restless' Star Kristoff St John Dead At 52

Kristoff St John, best known for his role on the long-running soap opera 'The Young and The Restless, has died.

Police said that officers responded to the actor's home in the Woodland Hills neighbourhood of Los Angeles for a welfare check when they discovered him unresponsive from a possible alcohol overdose.

Paramedics were summoned to the scene when they pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police say there is no evidence of foul play.

The star's personal attorney, Mark Gregaros, has confirmed his passing, releasing a statement on Twitter reading: "Few men had the unique strength, courage & sensitivity that @kristoffstjohn1 lived every single minute of every day. He impacted everyone he met and millions who he inspired and in turn admired him. On behalf of @MiaStJohnBoxer & @TheStJohnFamily thank you for all of your love."

"The news of Kristoff St. John’s passing is heartbreaking. He was a very talented actor and an even better person," CBS and Sony Pictures Television said in a statement.

"For those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him on 'The Young and the Restless' for the last 27 years, he was a beloved friend whose smile and infectious laugh made every day on set a joy and made audiences love him."

St John had portrayed the fictional character Neil Winters on the soap opera since 1991, earning him nine Daytime Emmy Award nominations.

His death comes four years after his 24-year-old son, Julian, took his own life after undergoing mental health treatment.

At the time of the third anniversary of his son's death, St John threatened to shoot himself and was placed on a 72-hour suicide watch.

On January 21, he retweeted a message that read: "Grieving the loss of a child is a process. It begins on the day your child passes, and ends the day the parent joins them."

Kristoff St John is survived by his fiancé Kseniya Olegovna Mikhaleva, his ex-wife Mia St John, and two daughters Paris and Lola.
