Big W Have Made A HUGE Announcement And We Cannot WAIT !
Big W has announced they are unleashing huge price cuts as they look to take on Kmart and it’s Aussie mums that are their focus.
It comes after the chain posted a loss of more than $150 million last year, with sales dipping by 5.8 per cent.
"It's fair to say over the last few years, Big W has lost real focus on what customers truly want," Big W CEO David Walker told A Current Affair.
"We've got lots of things we need to change in this business".
The major focus will be their price-point.
The cost of 2000 items, mostly basic household essentials, has been slashed by up to 25 percent.
Big W is also revamping the layout of its stores around the country, opting for a brighter, more open-plan look.
The transformations will come after customer research and analysis found that "They (mums) want brilliant basics, the things that they buy every season and every day, and they want to know and trust that the price is right and competitive," Big W commercial manager Teresa Rendo said.
The store layout changes should be rolled out across all Big W stores within the year, and CEO David Walker said more price cuts were on the way.
"This is just the start of the journey," he said.
"We have a lot more to do in this business, and our customers will see a lot more changes coming through progressively."
