Cruise Ship Gastro Outbreak Sees 182 Passengers Affected
This morning the beautiful Explorer Of The Seas, part of the Royal Caribbean Fleet, arrived in Sydney Harbour.
However, what people off the boat didn’t realise is that NSW Ambulance paramedics would be waiting for passengers when they docked.
Around 182 people are said to have been affected by an outbreak of gastro, causing medics to be running in and out of cabins, helping passengers.
"Every time you walked in and out of the corridors there'd be all the medics going in and out of all of the rooms," one of the passengers told 9NEWS. "Just about everybody was sick." It is understood no-one needed to be taken to hospital.
"We went to the medical and once they gave us the injection and tablets we were fine and enjoyed the rest of the cruise," the passenger said.
The ship was on a 14 day cruise from New Zealand and is reportedly set to take on more passengers and depart Sydney again this afternoon - however, it is understood there will be extra cleaning on the ship today to control the outbreak and prevent it spreading.
