Pink Floyd Blamed For Inaccurate Fact About The Moon

One of the world’s most famous astrophysicists has revealed the one question that completely grinds his gears… and it’s all Pink Floyd’s fault.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is often asked to debunk or prove popular theories, but more than any other, he’s asked about the “dark side of the moon”, which of course is also the title of Pink Floyd’s 1973 album...

"There is no dark side of the moon," Tyson told The Hollywood Reporter.

"There's a far side and there's a near," he explained.

"But all sides of the moon receive sunlight across the month."

He lamented that the fact that Pink Floyd had an album with that title meant spending “decades to undo” the much-believed, but inaccurate, factoid.

“…if I had a time machine, I’d go back and change the title of that to The Far Side Of The Moon, and I would restore thousands of hours of my life.”

He said that pop culture made it difficult to undo something that people believed, even with the facts to back it up, as pop culture is its own force.
