WATCH: Sweet Moment Boy With Down Syndrome Scores Touchdown
The incredibly emotional moment a terminally ill woman fell to the ground, sobbing, as she watched her son score a touchdown has been caught on camera.
Robby Heil, who is in his final year of high school in the US state of Michigan, had served as the team's "water boy" for four years; Friday night's game was his last chance to bag a touchdown before he graduated.
According to WXYZ, Robby stepped in to play during the second quarter of the game - to vocal support from his teammates - and didn't hesitate to head straight to the end zone once he was handed the ball.
"This is something that we thought we could do to bring some joy, hopefully some outstanding memories," head coach Jeff Burnside explained.
But the beautiful moment became sweeter still as the news cameras caught Robby's mother, Debbie Heil, falling to her knees in tears as she proudly witnessed her son's triumphant moment.
"I dropped to the ground because I was so emotional when I saw him make that touchdown," Debbie, who has been diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, said.
"I've always been proud of him being the water boy, or as people call him the hydration manager, but this was incredible."
Robby's fellow players can be seen jumping and cheering him on the video; watch the celebrations below.
