Most Offensive Swear Words Revealed - & You May Be Surprised

The brave folks over at Ofcom, the TV regulator in the UK, have rolled their sleeves up to compile a list of the most offensive swear words

And maybe it's because so many of them are used fondly - as a sort of term of endearment - here in Australia, but we can't help feeling like a couple of these aren't exactly wash-your-mouth-out awful.

The survey gave 200 people a list of naughty phrases and asked them to drop them into four different categories: Mild, Medium, Strong or Strongest.

Unsurprisingly, THAT word fell overwhelmingly into the Strongest column, but the words keeping it company?

Well, we'll let you judge that for yourself.

Mild: Arse, bloody, bugger, cow, crap, damn, ginger (what?!), God, goddamn, Jesus Christ, minger, sod-off, tart;

Medium: Arsehole, balls, b*tch, bollocks, bullsh*t, feck, munter, pissed off, sh*t, son of a b*tch, t*ts;

Strong: Bastard, beaver, c*ck, d*ck, d*ckhead, m*nge, pr*ck, p*ssy, sk*nk, sl*t, tw*t, w*nker, wh*re;

Strongest: C*nt, f*ck, motherf*cker.

$10 in the swear jar!
