You’ll NEVER Believe What Snapchat Admitted About Filters!
There's nothing more fun than playing with Snapchat filters.
It's a worldwide obsession that has gone crazy because you look way hotter with a flower crown or as a dog, obviously.
Two make-up artists, however, have a problem with one of the filters.
They are saying that snapchat ripped off their makeup looks, didn't give them credit and are now using the design without their permission.
It isn't the first time Snapchat have been accused of imitating other artists work for their filters. In May, the company was called out for using a guy named Alexander Kohlov's design as their geometric mask filter.
The result of social media backlash of Alexanders design lead to an apology statement from snapchat, who said ''We agree that this lens is similar other artists' creations and we have removed it. We are sorry for this embarrassing mistake and we are taking action to make sure it won't happen again.''
It just keeps on rolling though, as make-up artist Argenis Pinal logged in on Monday to see his joker design had also popped up with no credit.
#snapchatstolemylook Oh Hey GUYs look what #snapchat New filter is 💁🏻 My Joker face Paint. Immmmm soooo flattered they chose my face paint design since they are clearly running out of Filter Ideas to do BUT At Least Ask the Artist for the filter Idea and give them credit- wouldn't you Think 💁🏻??? I Did it better Sorry 😂 __________________ And clearly it's not the first time they do it, I just found out they took @mykie_ Look too and many artist, they need to stop because we spend a great amount of time creating looks and deserve the credit as an artist !!! #buzzfeed #hudabeauty #vegas_nay #laurag_143 #wakeupandmakeup #makeupfanatic1 #cosmopolitan #snapchatnoswiping
The same is alleged to happen to makeup artist Mykie. She spoke out when she realised her rainbow tears and lip makeup look was imitated with a filter.. but again, there was no credit.
Pinal and Mykie have over a million followers between them, so they were obviously going to find out what happened.
Snapchat responded to these allegations with this statement ''the creative process sometimes involves inspiration, but it should never result in copying. We have already implemented additional layers of review for all designs. Copying other artists isn't something we will tolerate, and we're taking appropriate action internally with those involved.''
My dog is claiming infringement rights on the dog filter.
