Drink Your Coffee Black? You My Be A Bit Of A Psychopath!

Have you ever thought that people who drink plain black coffee are a bit strange, well, science is on YOUR side!

Psychologists Christina Sagioglou and Tobias Greitemeyer from the University of Innsbruck, have released results from a study that found that people who prefer bitter flavours compared to sweet ones were more likely to show signs of ‘Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism, and everyday sadism‘.

So that'll explain why the nutbag in your office only drinks their coffee black.

The study of 500 participants asked them to rate how much they enjoy food and drink that’s sweet, sour, salty, and bitter.

They then took a personality test that looked how aggressive and manipulative they could be.

‘They found a significant correlation between those displaying more antisocial personality traits and those with a penchant for strong bitter tastes, particularly flavors like coffee, beer, tonic water and radishes’, says Tom Hale.

The study also found that people who prefer creamy, sugary coffee and avoid bitter drinks are more likely to display more kindness, sympathy and cooperativeness.

So, the next time someone tells you they don't want milk or sugar in their coffee because they are "already sweet enough" they are lying, and probably planning to do something nasty to YOUR coffee when you aren't looking!
