Non-Drinker Pro-Wrestler Has A Beer Named After Him
Pro-wrestling Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler may give a hard pass on the booze, but it hasn’t stopped him lending his name to promote the stuff.
The WWE legend recently
“I’ve never tasted beer, wine, or whiskey in my life and I’m not going to start just because one’s named after me,” Lawler, 68, told the Memphis Flyer.
“A while back I was contacted by someone from the brewery who explained to me they make beers with names that are familiar with Memphis,
“They had the idea to do a Jerry ‘The King’ Lager. I thought it sounded fun, so I gave them the go-ahead to use my name.”
Ironically, he also owns a bar on what the Flyer describes as “located on the drunkest street in town.”
Lawler made news earlier this month when he revealed he recently suffered a stroke while "expressing love for each other in a certain way” with his 29-year-old fiancée, Lauryn McBride.
