A $600 Million Theme Park Resort Is Coming To The Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is officially on track to receive another major theme park in the next three years.

Chinese theme park giants, Songcheng, have officially submitted a detailed development plan for Australian Legends World to the Gold Coast City Council.

The attraction’s plans feature an indoor ski field, animal exhibits, an adventure park and a 3500-seat performance theater.

In addition to the theme park, Songcheng plans to construct several bars and restaurants, a wedding centre, hotels, resorts, and a residential community on the 44-hectare parcel of land in Nerang.

The Australian managing director of Songcheng, Steven Wu said, “we are offering a totally different product to what else is out there, there is nothing like this here.”

“To see a new theme park of this magnitude take the next step through the lodgement of a development application underscores the commitment the developers have in our city,” he said.

“This application sends a message to the international tourism market – that is, we are renewing our tourism products as we strive to remain the No 1 tourism destination not only in Australia, but in many key international markets.’’

Operators are expecting that the not-so-mini metropolis will attract an average 12 million visitors annually once completed, as well as create thousands of local jobs for the greater Gold Coast community.

Songcheng hopes to have the project’s plans approved by the end of the year, with construction commencing mid next year.
