A Newborn Baby Has Been Found Abandoned At An Airport

By Isabella Lovric

A newborn baby boy was found abandoned in a restroom at the Tucson International Airport.

Tucson Airport Authority police have now revealed details surrounding the discovery, including surveillance footage of the woman suspected to be the mother.

A rental call employee found the boy with a torn umbilical cord in the restroom with a heartbreaking note.

“Please help me." the note began.

"My mom had no idea she was pregnant. She is unable and unfit to take care of me. Please get me to the authorities so they can find me a good home.

"I just want what is best for him only it is not me.

"Please.

"I'm sorry.”

The Washington Post reports that Juana Quintana, a custodian, told police that she had encountered the woman and asked if she was okay after seeing pools of blood on the bathroom floor. The baby was naked with its eyes closed, but the woman said the baby was three months old and left in a hurried manner.

Quintana said she also found bloodied clothes concealed in the trash.

It has been assumed that the women gave birth at the airport before abandoning the baby on a change table.

The woman may have been under the assumption that she was protected by the Arizona Safe Haven Law that allows parents to abandon their unharmed newborns no older than 3 days at any places such as a hospital, fire station, private welfare agency, adoption agency or church.

However, airports are not one of these locations and criminal charges are yet to be determined, the Arizona Daily Star reported.

“We would like to know who she is but we’ve exhausted our resources,” Butler told the paper. Butler further mentioned that the airport police are not actively looking for the woman but will pursue any leads they receive.

Thankfully, the child was transported to the hospital and was found to be healthy.
