AFL Makes Decision On What Will Happen 2012 Brownlow

Following Jobe Watson’s decision to hand back his Brownlow medal, a decision has been made what will happen to the medal.

The AFL Commission met on Tuesday to discuss a range of issues, with the fate of the Brownlow Medal at the top of their agenda.

The Essendon captain won the medal with 30 votes in the season of the Bombers' disastrous supplements program.

He was one of 34 past and present Bombers who were suspended for this season by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in January.

The AFL has deemed that the best course of action is for the medal to be given to joint runners-up Sam Mitchell and Trent Cotchin.

The 2012 leaderboard was as follows;

1. Jobe Watson (30 votes)*
2. Sam Mitchell (26 votes)
2. Trent Cotchin (26 votes)
4. Scott Thompson (25 votes)
4. Dane Swan (25 votes)
6. Gary Ablett (24 votes)
7. Patrick Dangerfield (23 votes)
8. Josh Kennedy (19 votes)
8. Lenny Hayes (19 votes)
8. Dayne Beams (19 votes)
