Anti Same Sex Marriage Campaign Airs The First Time

An advertisement promoting a no vote in the gay marriage postal survey has aired on television overnight featuring mothers highlighting issues they think will come from the legislation change.

The advertisement from the Coalition for Marriage - the key group behind the 'no' campaign - ends with the caption: "We have a choice. You can say no," News Corp Australia reports.

Critics on social media have criticised the campaign for targeting schools with one of the mothers telling viewers her son's school told him "he could wear a dress next year if he felt like it".

Australian Labor Party and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten told Fairfax Media the ad was “offensive and hurtful to LGBTI Australians and their families”.

“This is exactly what was predicted when Malcolm Turnbull decided to waste $122 million on a postal survey. He gave the green light to this rubbish,” Mr Shorten said.

Naturally, people took to twitter with their thoughts.
