Australia Post Forced Postie To Remove Xmas Decorations
Australia Post is being compared to the Grinch who stole Christmas after a Torquay postman was told to remove holiday decorations from his delivery bike.
For years Cam McFarlane has pimped out his bike, delivering letters, gifts and Christmas joy around the seaside town.
Locals aren’t happy, launching a protest page on Facebook in support of the popular postie.
One angry local hit out at Australia Post on the company’s Facebook page, writing: ‘Absolute disgrace that Cam the postie from Torquay has been told to remove all Xmas decorations from his bike. He brings so much joy and cheer to the people of our community all year round.’
Australia Post has defended its decision, claiming it merely asked Mr McFarlane to remove the decorations because they’re a safety hazard.
“We love it when out people share the Christmas spirit, but safety is out highest priority and we expect them to adopt safe work practices,” an Australia Post spokesperson said.
Australia Post said it was happy for Mr McFarlance to decorate his bike as long as his view wasn't being obstructed.
Fans of the festive postie weren’t satisfied with the response, stating Mr McFarlane excels at putting smiles on residents’ faces. While others described the postie as Santa’s little helper.
