Ben Mendelsohn Scores Best Supporting Emmy For Bloodline
Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn has scooped a coveted Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a drama!
It was the 47-year-old's second nomination for his role as Danny Rayburn in Netflix-created series Bloodline.
And, despite going up against strong competition in his category, going elbow-to-elbow with Game of Thrones' stars Peter Dinklage and Kit Harington, Mendelsohn surprised critics by taking the gong.
"Honestly, if it's not Dinklage, it will be Harington," the Washington Post had predicted. "This is a 'GoT' year."
Mendelsohn's win comes just four days after Netflix announced that the show had been cancelled after three seasons.
The actor, who hails from Melbourne, first gained recognition for his 1987 role in The Year My Voice Broke before garnering international acclaim for his chilling turn in Animal Kingdom.
