Bomb Squad Officers Called To Train Station As PSPA Declared
Police have declared a PSPA after suspending the Gold Coast train line this morning.
Bomb squad officers have converged on a Gold Coast train station that has been evacuated after a man made threats against the public this morning.
Police are conducting security sweeps at the station and people have been warned to stay away.
A Public Safety Preservation Act has been declared by Queensland Police - asking people to avoid the Helensvale train station, from the Town Centre Drive, North to the entrance of the train station.
Also south of the railway station, Town Centre Drive.
A man is in police custody after making threats earlier this morning.
Delays are expected of up to 30 minutes for commuters.
Further details are yet to emerge.
Expect delays if you travel on the Beenleigh and Gold Coast train lines this morning with a police incident forcing trains be suspended in both directions.
Trains are currently not running between Varsity Lakes and Beenleigh Stations.
Buses are available to transport customers, however Translink is warning that commuters can expect delays of up to 30 minutes.
The suspension is at the request of Queensland Police after a man was allegedly making threats and causing a disturbance.
According to News.com.au Police were called to the scene at approximately 7am and there is no indiciation of how long the delays will stand.
The man, however, is now reportedly in police custody.
