Brisbane, You’re About To Get A Whole Lot Of Rain

BRACE yourselves. The rain is coming.

While there was already plenty of rain over the weekend, it has now been reported that we can expect to receive between 20-50mm of rain today.

In case you’re not too sure how much that is – it’s a month’s worth of rain in ONE day!

Residents below the Sunshine Coast were also warned to take care as it spilled water and forecasters tip up to 150mm of rain to come.

Meteorologist Andrew Busalino told the Courier Mail that it was unusual to have such an extended period of rain in October.

“Generally, we have a shower thunderstorm in the afternoon rather than a broad rainfall event,” he said.

The rain has however, offered welcome reprieve to many people across the southeast and will weaken over the next several days.

Lifesavers closed beaches on the Sunshine and Gold coasts and North Stradbroke Island, due to dangerous conditions caused by strong winds and large swells.
