CCTV Released Of Man Who Allegedly 'Attacked' Muslim Woman
WA Police have released images of a man they believe can assist in their investigation into an alleged attack on a Muslim woman outside a Perth shopping centre on Friday evening.
The woman was allegedly assaulted at the Beeliar Village shopping centre after a verbal exchange turned physical.
The man is described as 25-35, 175-180 centimetres tall with a slim build. He has short blonde hair and was wearing blue shorts and a white top.
Police believe the man was with a woman and four young children just prior to the incident.
The 33-year-old woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, had told WAtoday.com.au on Monday she was walking into Coles around 8.30pm when a man yelled out "Merry Christmas".
"I turned around and said and 'happy holidays' to you," she said.
"He then yelled, 'no Merry Christmas', so I said 'OK’, then he called me a "f---ing Muslim c--t."
"I asked him what he said and I saw him grab a bottle so I quickly turned away and he threw it at me and it smashed on my shoulder and neck.
"Imagine if I didn't turn around, it could have cut my face open".
Members of the public rushed to the woman's aid before police arrived. The offender fled on foot, dumping her hijab nearby.
Anyone who recognises this man is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com
