Daughter Bludgeoned Strict Brisbane Mother To Death
A week after the body of her mother was found bludgeoned to death in the family home, a Brisbane uni student has been charged with her murder.
The bloodied body of Radica Zafirovska was found in her home at The Gap last Friday morning after her daughter Simona raised the alarm.
The 20-year-old told police that she had discovered the body of her mother in an upstairs bedroom, leading to a two day search of the property and surrounding streets.
Police say Radica was killed from a blow to the head from what is believed to be a piece of wood.
“At this stage, the homicide has involved blunt trauma damage to the victim’s head,” they said.
According to the Courier Mail, Zafirovska was desperate to be free of her mother’s traditional Macedonian parenting.
However, friends of the 54-year-old said while the mother and daughter kept to themselves there was no indication of a rift.
“We didn’t see them as much but they’ve always seemed close and got on well,” they told the paper.
Neighbours have backed the sentiment expressing their shock at the death of the Supreme Court cleaner.
Simona’s father died five years earlier with the student left a substantial inheritance. The family home was also transferred into her name two years ago.
Police say they will not be charging anyone else over the murder of Radica.
