Devastating News In The Search For Missing Melbourne Woman

Canadian police have called off the search for missing Melbourne woman Sophie Dowsley.

The Canadian authorities made this sad announcement after 15 days of searching for Ms Dowsley, who went missing while hiking through the wilderness in British Columbia.

Ms Dowsley and her partner Greg Tiffin went missing on July 8. Mr Tiffin's body was found after determined Canadian search parties went searching for the pair.

Ms Dowsley's family, who had asked the Australian government to provide extra help in the search to find her, have now accepted that she may never be found.

Ms Dowsley's brother has spoken out about the decision.

"We acknowledge that this is one of the most dangerous search and recovery operations that you have ever conducted. Every day you put your lives at risk to find Sophie and we thank you for that," he said.
