Free Willy Star Jason James Richter To Face Jail Time
Free Willy child star Jason James Richter will spend time in jail after being found guilty of vandalism.
The actor, who played Jesse in the Free Willy franchise, has been sentenced to four days in jail and 36 months probation.
He was arrested in October for domestic violence after an altercation with his partner and spent two nights in jail at the time before being released on $27,000 bail.
Richter plead no contest to the vandalism charge, to which he was found guilty.
The charge of domestic battery was dismissed after he changed his vandalism plea from not guilty.
The court took into account the time spent in jail in October, so he was sentenced to a further two days behind bars.
He has also been forced to enrol in a 52 week domestic violence treatment program, for which he must sign up for within 30 days.
“Jason and his girlfriend were involved in an argument that unfortunately escalated to the point where police were called,” Richter’s representative told news.com.au at the initial time of arrest.
“However, Jason vehemently denies any physical altercation.
"He is devastated that anyone has been led to believe otherwise.”
