Gable Tostee To Stand Trial For Tinder Murder Today

A Gold Coast man accused of killing a New Zealand tourist he met on the dating app Tinder is about to stand trial for her murder.

Warriena Tagpuno Wright fell to her death from the 14th floor balcony of Gable Tostee's high-rise Avalon Apartments unit in Surfers Paradise in the early hours of August 8, 2014.

The 26-year-old from Wellington was on a two-week holiday in Australia to attend a friend's wedding when she met Tostee on Tinder.

Tostee, a carpet layer, has pleaded not guilty to her murder.

The 30-year-old's trial is due to start in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Monday when he will be represented by high-profile barrister Saul Holt QC.

The trial before Justice John Byrne is expected to take seven to eight days.
