Grandma To Face Court Over Slashing Of Four-Month Old Baby
A Brisbane Grandmother is set to appear in court charged with the attempted murder of her infant grandson after allegedly slashing his face with a knife.
Detectives charged the 64-year-old woman on Tuesday after her four-month-old grandson was found with facial injuries in his cot at a home in The Gap about 6.30am on Tuesday.
The child was taken in a critical condition to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The little boy had been visiting the home with his mother, who was woken by the infant's crying.
Police have described the incident as the "worst-case scenario" and say paramedics and officers were visibly shaken after attending the scene.
The grandmother is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
