Horror 24 Hours Sees Two Dead, Another Seriously Injured
Two people have died and another has been seriously injured in a horrid 24 hours on Brisbane’s roads.
A 97-year-old Margate man was killed in Redcliffe after his motorised scooter was hit by a car.
The 22-year-old female driver was travelling east along Anzac Avenue when the man entered the crossing at Ashmole road.
He was struck by the station wagon at 12.45pm and was later pronounced dead after being taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
The woman was uninjured but treated for shock at the scene.
Police are calling for public assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the fatality.
A 31-year-old Kallangur man was killed in a separate accident at Everton Park at 7pm last night.
The man was driving along Old Northern Road when his car veered into the inbound lanes near the intersection with Keona Road.
The sedan collided with a utility travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the sedan was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other driver was uninjured.
In a separate incident, a 23-year-old motorcycle rider is fighting for his life after being involved in a serious accident in Kallangur.
The man suffered serious head and facial injuries after colliding with a car.
Police say initial information suggests the car travelling west along Ann Street attempted to turn right into Sheaves Road at 6.30pm when it collided with the motorcycle that was travelling in the opposite direction.
The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital. The 33-year-old woman was uninjured.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may be able to help with investigations.
