Reports Lady Cilento Set To Officially Get A New Name Today
Brisbane's Lady Cilento Hospital will be renamed to clear up confusion about whether it's a public or a private facility.
Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles has called a press conference at the hospital on Friday morning where it's expected he'll announce it will be called the Queensland Children's Hospital.
The granddaughter of Lady Cilento, whose name and legacy may be scrubbed from the state's children's hospital, has rejected an offer to instead name an auditorium after the pioneer. https://t.co/dIKIXO6M9c @ErinEdwards7 @alisonsandy #7News pic.twitter.com/NeqwbKImF6— 7 News Brisbane (@7NewsBrisbane) September 14, 2018
The hospital was named after Phyllis Dorothy Cilento, a pioneering doctor. But medical practitioners raised concerns and a survey showed most parents didn't know it was a public facility.
