Man Arrested After Hours-Long Domestic Violence Ordeal

A man has been charged with strangulation, assault and kidnapping following a domestic violence incident involving a woman and four young children south of Brisbane.

The 29-year-old man allegedly went to the home of the woman and children in the Logan area on Saturday before he choked the woman, and made her and the children get in a car.

The vehicle was allegedly driven around for several hours before it returned to the house in the early evening. The man returned to the car with the children and left the woman behind, police say.

A police vehicle tried to intercept the car as the man was attempting to drive away.

The man allegedly drove off and rammed a second police car when it attempted to intercept it at a petrol station in Daisy Hill about 8.15pm.

The man fled the vehicle while it was moving, abandoning the children.

He allegedly attempted to steal a car from another man in Loganholme before 9pm.

Following a violent struggle, police took the man into custody.

The children were not physically injured and were returned to their mother.

The 29-year-old has been charged with multiple domestic violence offences including kidnapping, common assault, strangulation and contravening a domestic violence order, along with a number of other offences.

He was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
