Man In Wheelchair Dies In QLD House Fire

A man who was confined to a wheelchair has been found dead inside a house that was destroyed by fire in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Flames tore through the man's single level brick veneer home about 6.20pm on Wednesday.

Fire crews fought to put out the fire and stop it from spreading to neighbouring properties and later found the body of the man, aged in his 30s, in the smouldering debris.

Police don't believe there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at the Beerwah home, as fire crews continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.

Neighbour Brett Arthur has been gripped by thoughts about how he could have helped if he'd been home when the blaze took hold.

"I was pretty gutted for him actually, and his family," Mr Arthur said.

"I was lying in bed last night thinking about if I had have been home, maybe I could have smashed a window or something and got him out. It's not to be."
