Man Shot In The Eye In Queensland This Morning
A Gold Coast man's morning trip to work has turned into a near-death experience after he was shot in the eye.
The 36-year-old and a colleague were leaving for work from an Upper Coomera home about 8.10am on Thursday when a white hatchback pulled into the property's driveway.
A passenger in the car got out of the vehicle and fired at the pair, hitting the injured man, before returning to the car which drove off, police say.
The injured man and his workmate fled to a neighbour's yard and rang emergency services, and he was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Procter says the man is "very lucky" to have survived his injuries.
Det Snr Sgt Procter says there was no apparent motive for the shooting and they hope to learn more when they can interview the victim.
"Obviously when we get to speak to him it'll shed a bit more light on why this has happened," he said.
The man's family were not at home when the shooting occurred, and the offenders remain on the run as police urge anyone with information to contact them.
