34-year-old Mum Dies After Trying To Self-Medicate Tinnitus

A 34-year-old mother has died after using cocaine and alcohol to treat her Tinnitus.

Claire Fielding believed the condition, which causes a persistent buzzing noise in your ears, was only calmed when she had wine.

Speaking at an Inquest in Bolton, her partner of 17 years, James Goodyear said Claire had problems with panic attacks and with her breathing.

“She did drink about half a bottle of wine most nights, regularly,” he submitted.

“She suffered from tinnitus and that’s what calmed her… It was this buzzing in her ears all the time.

“I knew that she took cocaine at weekends sometimes… It was a form of self medication for her.”

The mum-of-two died of a heart attack.
