New iPhone Faces Yet MORE Controversy After Bizarre Issue
Apple have been forced to respond to concerns that the battery in their new iPhone 8 Plus is defective and is causing a small number of phones to swell and pop open.
The technology giants released the latest in their long line of products just over two weeks ago, with six users already reporting the issue.
In each instance, the battery itself swelled inside the phone, causing the casing to bend and pop open and the screen to detach.
All of the affected phones were rendered unusable by the problem.
While it doesn't seem that the phones are overheating or catching fire - as in the much-publicised Samsung Galaxy Note 7 case earlier this year - Apple said Friday that they were "looking into the matter".
MacRumours were the first to report the issue.
