Police Release Identity Of Hit And Run Killer
Police have stated that they are coming close to finding the man allegedly responsible for a hit and run that killed an innocent Melbourne nurse on Monday night.
They have also released the identity of the wanted man as 20-year-old Sebastian Kennett, who is believed to have been responsible for a second crash that occurred at a separate time.
Mr Kennett is described at being 181cm tall with a short afro and overweight build. He was last seen wearing a dark t-shirt, long shorts and runners.
Detectives have now searched a number of homes in Chadstone, Murrumbeena and Hampton believed to be owned by friends of Mr Kennett, but they have not yet been able to locate him.
It is believed that Mr Kennett ran from the scene of the crash after hitting a Toyota Yaris with the stolen Lexus that he was driving at around 11pm in Oakleigh.
Detective Acting Inspector Brad McArthur has spoken during a press conference this morning.
"I'd be surprised if he wasn't injured...it was enough to kill Ms Hansen. Airbags obviously saved (Mr Kennett)...but it's not believed he's sought medical attention so far," he said.
Police are confident that they will be able to find Mr Kennett. Anyone with information is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
