Qld Man Charged With Sam Price-Purcell's Murder

A man has been charged with murdering Sam Price-Purcell more than three years after he was last seen getting into a distinctive yellow car in suburban Brisbane.

Mr Price-Purcell's body has never been found, but homicide detectives on Monday charged a 36-year-old man from Leyburn, near Toowoomba, with one count of murder.

They say the long-running investigation is ongoing and others could also be charged.

Mr Price-Purcell, 28, disappeared after leaving Mitchelton in Brisbane on February 16, 2015 and police believe he travelled to Toowoomba before he was killed.

He was last seen getting into a yellow 2010 Holden Commodore SS sedan in Mitchelton.

Late last month police announced they had seized a similar car for forensic testing.

Searches of properties at Leyburn and Helidon, both near Toowoomba, were also conducted earlier this year.

"... while this arrest is certainly a significant breakthrough for us, it does not mark the end. We still have more work to do and remain committed to bringing all those responsible for Sam's murder before the court," Detective Acting Inspector David Nicoll of the Homicide Group said in a statement on Monday.

"Importantly, Sam's remains have not been located and police are appealing for anyone with information in relation to Sam's murder or the location of his remains to contact police."

The accused will front the Toowoomba Magistrates Court later in the day.
