Qld Man Due In Court Over Armed Robbery

A Queensland man has been charged after allegedly pouring petrol around a Deception Bay service station and threatening to burn the premises down.

The 39-year-old man allegedly placed items into a backpack about 11am on Wednesday but only placed some of them on the counter before a shop assistant asked him to pay for them all and locked the automatic doors, police say.

It is alleged the man then grabbed a bottle of petrol from his bag, splashed the contents through the store and threatened to burn the premises down before the assistant unlocked the doors and the man escaped.

A Redbank man was arrested in a nearby shopping centre and has been charged with several offences, including armed robbery and breaching bail, and is due to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Thursday.
