We're Being Warned This Summer Could Be DEADLY

Queenslanders are being urged to look out for snakes as the weather warms up in the latter half of the year.

There has been more than 500 snakebite incidents in Queensland so far this year, with the Townsville region alone recording more than 60 cases.

Paramedics are concerned that number could rise further during spring and summer when snakes are more active.

There's been one death from snakebite in Queensland this year - a 54-year-old snake catcher in Rockhampton in April.

More recently a two-year-old boy was hospitalised with swelling on the brain after being bitten by a coastal taipan in September.
