Salim Mehajer Charged With Assaulting Prison Guard

Former Auburn Deputy Mayor Salim Mehajer is in the news for all the wrong reasons once again, this time for allegedly attacking a prison officer at Cooma Jail where he is currently serving an eleven-month sentence for electoral fraud.

The 32-year-old disgraced property developer is alleged to have grabbed a prison officer during an altercation which has seen him in isolation since the incident.

Corrective Services NSW spokesman said:

‘A 32-year-old inmate has been charged internally after allegedly grabbing a prison officer by the wrist at Cooma Correctional Centre last week,’

‘The inmate has been placed on a 14-day segregation order.’

Mehajer was convicted with fraud earlier this year after he rigged his local government election back in 2012 with the help of his sister Fatima.
