Severe Storm Wreaks Havoc Across South-East

Wind gusts of up to 158km/h have been felt as a severe thunderstorm hit South-East Queensland this afternoon.

Reports of what felt like a mini-tornado have come from Brisbane Airport where footage showed sheets of rain descending on the runway as debris went flying.

The wind also caused havoc at the Port of Brisbane where shipping containers were knocked from their stacks.

Approximately 8000 homes were left without power according to Energex.

The wild weather was also felt further north.

At Dickie Beach on the Sunshine Coast, caravans were flipped, while a wall collapsed at Currimundi.
