Shark Sighting Closes Sunny Coast Beach

Swimmers have been told to stay out of the water after a shark was spotted off the Sunshine Coast.

The beach along Coolum has been closed after the confirmed sighting this morning.

Surf Life Saving Queensland says Coolum Beach and Coolum North will both be closed for an hour as a result.

They’ve warned it’s an offence to enter the water.

According to the Sunshine Coast Daily, swimmers were rushed from the water by lifeguards following the spotting.

“There were five of us out and we were a little bit split up in the water when the lifesaver came up and yelled 'get on, quickly'," Kathy Sundstrom told the paper.
