The Battle Going On Over One Of Brisbane's Busiest Roads
There’s a battle going on over one of Brisbane’s busiest roads as Council prepares to upgrade the Lytton Road corridor.
Protestors have been out in force, upset at plans to widen the road – which will see 48 houses cleared to make way.
So far council have only been able to negotiate with 27 property owners, with papers showing one commercial resumption will cost over $6 million.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $115 million.
Residents say they feel bullied and the money could be better spent than on the resumption of properties.
One Lytton Road shopping centre has already revealed it could close as businesses look to move ahead of the road works.
The upgrade would see the busy corridor upgraded from four lanes to six.
