Tribute To QLD Light Plane Crash Victim

A wife heartbroken by the death of her husband in an ultralight plane crash in central Queensland says he died "doing what he loved".

Timothy White, 53, was the sole occupant of the aircraft which crashed around 7.35am on Sunday near the Gregory Highway, 15km south of Emerald. He died on the scene.

The Queensland Police Service's forensic crash unit is investigating, while federal aviation investigators have also been informed.

"Just heartbroken doesn't seem real," Mr White's wife Leanne wrote on Facebook.

Mrs White said he had gone out to fly like he did most mornings.

"Only something terrible and unforeseen happened, his plane went down and crashed in a paddock," she wrote.

Friends and family paid tribute to Mr White saying he was "truly a great man" and "one in a million".

"The love you shared was obvious to everyone Leanne," Kelly Lucas wrote on Facebook.

Mr White leaves behind two children, Coby and Matthew, after their daughter Taylee died in 2016.
