Update:

Police suspect a Gold Coast man killed his partner before killing himself.

Officers are treating the deaths of 46-year-old Dave Lee and his partner Melinda Horner, 36, as a murder-suicide.

Friends found the bodies of the couple at their Burleigh Waters home on Monday afternoon.

Ms Horner's body was found in a car, while Mr Lee's was inside the property.

"The death of the 36-year-old woman is being treated as suspicious and the death of the 46-year-old man is being treated as non suspicious," police said on Tuesday.

Officers are expected to address the media later in the day.

Friends have started leaving tributes on Mr Lee's Facebook page.

"Can't believe you're gone mate!! I'm in total shock! Rest easy Dave!!" wrote Ricky Norman.

Another friend Steve Sutcliffe spoke of his shock.

"Woken this morning to the shocking news, R.I.P. Mate, my thoughts are with your family."

"We will seal the place off and get the specialists in here and see what unfolds from there. It is quite a shock to the people here. It's a close little community, this area.

"They were very well thought of by their neighbours."

Media reports have named the couple as Dave Lee and his partner Melinda Horner.
