Wealthy Brisbane Suburb In Sex Work Sting

Police have targeted an apartment complex in one of Brisbane's most affluent neighbourhoods in an ongoing crackdown on illegal sex work.

Police searched the Hercules Street building in the riverside suburb of Hamilton this week as part of a probe into illegal prostitution in Queensland's southeast.

A 25-year-old woman is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 26 to face charges of engaging in prostitution through an illegal business and possessing tainted property.

"Detectives have commenced the enforcement phase of a protracted Prostitution Enforcement Task Force operation targeting non-compliant advertising for prostitution in south east Queensland," the police report reads.

"Operation Quebec Ravens began in August 2016 to detect and identify those involved in illegal prostitution and to disrupt their illegal activities and dismantle their illegal networks.

"Over the past two days, search warrants were executed at an apartment complex on Hercules Street in Hamilton.

"A 25-year-old Nundah woman has been issued with a notice to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 26 to answer the charges of engaging in prostitution through unlawful prostitution business and possess tainted property.

"Two other people are assisting police with their enquiries."
